METHOD / EDITION / RIGHTS

Accuracy is not a tone; it is a visible editorial system

The atlas begins from the supplied global research review and checks claims against publishers, university archives, DOIs, peer-reviewed journals, film institutions, and rights holders. It distinguishes facts, scholarly interpretations, and editorial research propositions.

Current public data verified through 2026-08-12; the site is maintained as a living edition.
01

Primary sources first

Definitions begin with the Minuit French edition, standard translations, and Deleuze’s seminar archive. Secondary scholarship explains disputes and extensions; it does not retroactively rewrite the primary text.

02

Stable concept keys

The glossary aligns French, English, preferred Chinese, regional variants, rationale, and misuse warnings. Published translations document traditions; community corpora aid discovery; neither is disguised as a sole authority. Virtual names a fully real virtual state, never falsity.

03

Tiered film evidence

P1 = primary conceptual analysis; P2 = primary brief mention; S1 = cited later scholarship; E1 = an editorial research proposition. Curatorial programmes, course lists, and retrospectives cannot prove that Deleuze discussed a film.

04

No false global total

The scholar map is a verifiable sample with inclusion rules. A one-off citation, keyword hit, or affiliation does not establish depth, nationality, or region of study.

05

Access labels are controlled

A page loading does not make it open access. The atlas distinguishes OA full text, lawful preview, abstract, catalog, purchase, subscription, and mixed routes.

06

Rights and accessibility together

Video links prioritize public material from rights holders and are never rehosted. YouTube/Vimeo entries also receive text summaries and source pages, so connectivity problems are not answered with infringement.

07

Evidence nodes and edges separately

Relation maps use P1 primary relations, S1 secondary reconstructions, X1 cross-text syntheses, and E1 editorial models. A concept occurring in a primary text does not make every arrow drawn from it a primary-source fact.

08

Separate headings, house terms, and pages

Published headings are transcribed verbatim while house terminology receives a separate guide field. Print pages, PDF-viewer pages, and language editions remain distinct; surrogate pagination is never presented as universal book pagination.

09

Research inputs are not a public asset pack

Supplied PDFs and Keynote files may support internal collation, relational redraws, and original analysis. The status of a formally published print edition does not make a third-party scan an official e-book; local paths, full scans, and unverified video links remain unpublished.

SUPPLIED RESEARCH REVIEW

What the supplied review contributes

The review establishes a three-level researcher definition, a conservative 55+ sample, four decades of development, five major pathways, and seven core disputes. The site converts this long-form argument into searchable people, works, concepts, and debates.

The review also identifies Anglophone visibility bias, name normalization, disciplinary boundaries, and the gap between citation counts and theoretical depth. These limits remain visible as methodological fields rather than buried footnotes.

Versions and known limits

A public research site should not pretend to be complete. Explicit limits are what make growth possible.

HOW TO CITE

Suggested citation

P4 Theater, “Time-Image Research Atlas: A Bilingual Map of Deleuze’s Time-Image,” public research edition 1.1, 2026-08-12, https://deleuze.p4theater.cn. For specific concepts, films, or resources, also cite the primary source listed in the relevant record.

The atlas supports navigation, teaching, and preliminary verification; it does not replace primary texts, films, or formal scholarly citations.
