CORRECTIONS / CHECKABLE CLAIMS

Point to the sentence, field, or timecode

A usable correction identifies the record in question and gives another reader enough evidence to check it. A dispute between interpretations need not masquerade as a typo. A sourced disagreement can be recorded as scholarly debate.

WHAT CAN BE CORRECTED

First identify the layer at issue

Correction types include facts, bibliographic data, page or timecode locators, translation, knowledge status, relations, dead links, access status, credits, and rights information.

Name the edition, page, timecode, publication record, or stable source. A bare statement of disagreement cannot alter a factual field, but it can prompt the site to document the dispute.

01

Locate the claim

Provide the stable page URL and entity ID, then copy the disputed wording or field exactly.

02

Supply a checkable locator

Name the edition, publication data, page, timecode, or archive record. A link is an entry point; the locator identifies the evidence.

03

Record substantive changes

An accepted factual or interpretive change updates the record version and revision date and enters the public changelog.
